Texas Success Initiative

TSI is a state-legislated program designed to improve student success in college. Part of the program is an assessment to determine your basic skills in reading, mathematics and writing. This assessment is currently offered free of charge to students enrolled at Cooper High School.

  • CHS currently has a goal of graduating all 2018-2019 college going students as TSI ready.

  • Students wishing to enroll in any Dual Credit course must successfully complete the TSI.

ACT

The ACT® test is the nation’s most popular college entrance exam accepted and valued by all universities and colleges in the United States. The ACT is based on what students learn in high school and provides personalized information about their strengths for education and career planning.

ACT Aspire

ACT Aspire test is a powerful tool to help students and their parents monitor progress toward a successful ACT test from third grade through tenth grade. The Aspire test assess students’ readiness in five areas covered by the ACT test: English, math, reading, science and writing. Any 10th grade student enrolled at Cooper ISD wishing to participate in the ACT Aspire  will have the opportunity to sign up with Mrs. Liggins. Campus testing date coming soon…

SAT

The SAT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. The goal is to provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants.

PSAT 8/9

All 8th and 9th students enrolled at Cooper ISD will have the opportunity to participate in the PSAT 8/9. This assessment will be offered during the fall semester of every other school year. The next test date will be schedule for 2019-2020. 

 

PSAT 10

TBD… Any 10th grade student enrolled at Cooper ISD wishing to participate in the PSAT 10 will have the opportunity to register with Mrs. Liggins. 

 

PSAT NMSQT

TBD… Any 10th or 11th grade student enrolled at Cooper ISD wishing to participate in the PSAT NMSQT will have the opportunity to register with Mrs. Liggins. Students will be transported to First Baptist Church for the test administration.

*The PSAT/NMSQT is the route of entry to the National Merit® Scholarship Program, an academic competition conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).
