Counseling

Academic Counseling:
(Elementary and Middle/Junior High School Grade Levels)
The school counselor is available to students and parents to talk about the importance of
postsecondary education and how best to plan for postsecondary education, including
appropriate courses to consider and financial aid availability and requirements.
In either grade 7 or 8, each student will receive instruction related to how the student can best
prepare for high school, college, and a career.

Personal Counseling: (All Grade Levels)
The school counselor is available to assist students with a wide range of personal concerns,
including such areas as social, family, emotional or mental health issues, or substance abuse. A
student who wishes to meet with the school counselor should ask the classroom teacher for a
pass to the counselor’s office. As a parent, if you are concerned about your child’s mental or
emotional health, please speak with the school counselor for a list of resources that may be of
assistance.
